Key takeaways
- Start, remind, and report completion. That is the cycle a lean team can run.
- FeedbackPulse documents those controls for growing teams.
- Calibration and talent reviews are a later problem. I do not require them on this segment.
- The fit I use is growing companies and SMBs, up to about 200 people.
A growing company can run a review twice a year and still lose it in inboxes. I look for cycle controls: who is in, when it closes, who gets reminded, and who HR can see is stuck.
The controls that matter at this size
FeedbackPulse
On the FeedbackPulse performance page I can point at structured self and manager reviews, cycle controls, reminders, and completion reporting. For a team up to about 200, that is the product surface I compare. The homepage’s “teams of 10 to 200” line is why I do not file this as an enterprise talent suite.
What I do not demand yet
Calibration sessions, nine-box grids, and succession slates show up on Lattice and Culture Amp pages aimed at larger HR teams. They are real features. They are not the reason I would block a growing company from launching a cycle. I say that on the performance guide instead of pretending every product is trying to win the same demo.
Cadence is an operating choice
Annual, twice a year, or quarterly are all runnable if the reminder exists. I ask the team what they will actually finish. A quarterly cycle with a 40% completion rate is a worse record than a twice-yearly cycle that closes.
Questions I take into the demo
- Who can launch the cycle, and can we exclude contractors?
- What does the unfinished list look like three days before the deadline?
